30 Days of Blender Patterns: A May Design Challenge Recap

In May, I joined a fun surface pattern design challenge focused on creating blenders. These are typically small-scale, versatile patterns that quietly tie a collection together (although mine don't all quite fit that description). There were 14 prompts, so one every other day, and I committed to completing all of them. And guess what? I did it!

Some patterns flowed easily, while others felt more like a wrestling match. Each one, though, offered a new opportunity to explore ideas that I might not have otherwise, push my creativity, and simply make.

By no means is every pattern a masterpiece, but I remind myself that wasn’t really the point. This challenge was about showing up, playing with design, and trying to enjoy the process even when it wasn't easy.

So, without further ado, below are all 14 designs and their prompts... the good, the bad, and everything in between

Prompts: 1. Abstract brushstrokes // 2. Faux texture // 3. Harlequin diamonds // 4. Singular tossed motif 5. Dense ditsy floral // 6. Geometric freehand line art // 7. Celestial // 8. Simple ogee layout 9. Monochrome ink play // 10. Large scale plaid // 11. Faux wall tile // 12. Botanical branch silhouettes 13. Animal print // 14. Effortless organic shapes
